Holy Moly!

We are FINALLY building our homes!!

This is our property. Its hard to tell but we have a gorgeous view. Giant Red Mountains to our Right and Pine Valley to our left!

We started building about 3 weeks ago. The first week was SOOOOO cold. It was already hard enough learning EVERYTHING involved in framing a house and the cold just made it way worse!

Our fingers felt like they were going to shatter!! Ouch!

Its been really fun though!

We have 3 families building together.

Us, Lauren and Adam (My Sis and Bro in law) and Sue and Misty a mother/daughter family.

I can't wait till we are all neighbors and not building anymore :)

Matt and Adam work a lot at their normal jobs so its usually us ladies working away!

We are kinda slow but we are having fun and learning a lot!

I hate nail guns! They are super heavy and way scary. I'm so scared I'm going to accidentally shoot someone! The guys make fun of Lauren and I when we do the sheeting because we are so slow because that gun is so dang heavy!

We also have learned, and use on a regular basis, chop saw, skill saw, measuring tape, pencil, chalk line, impact drill, a gun that shoots into cement (I forgot the name), speed square and a hammer!! At the very beginning of the building process we had a hammering contest, Ha ha! I was so bad! I'm pretty good now :)

My mom, sister and grandma watch our kids while Lauren and I work (about 25 hrs a week) all 4 kids two babies and two 2 year olds! That is NOT an easy job. I am so thankful for them!

I've missed a lot!

Here goes....

Matt and 2 of his buddies starting a Christmas light hanging business called X-String Lights and its taken off! They are doing awesome!

Halloween was SO fun this year! Cate loved every minute of it. She was so cute saying Twick o Treeeeaaattt! And always Thank you!

Cate is obsessed with being a princess. She has to wear a princess dress every day. If I don't let her wear a dress or skirt she flips and has a 20 minute tantrum! Its nuts! I've learned its a lot easier to just put her in a dress everyday. All day she sings "I'm a princess, I'm a princess, I'm a princess"

Lainey is still being sweet gentle Lainey! She's walking all around the furniture and can go from standing to sitting. She is a lot less scared now and will hold on with only one hand and walk around. Maybe she'll start walking soon?!

We had a spontaneous one night trip to Las Vegas. The girls LOVED the princess castle!

We signed the papers for our house and should start building any day now!

Another Vegas trip. This one was lots of fun and special because uncle Braden was able to go to the temple for the first time! It was fun to see all of our family!

I have a lot to report :)

GG (Gramma Hawke) came to visit from Canada for a week!! We had our big annual family birthday party where she surprised the family with a huge pool!! Ahh its sooooo nice!

My AmAzInG sister Lauren had a beautiful baby boy!

I can not believe how strong she is! We went to her normal 38 week appt and doc checked her and said wow! You're dilated to a 6 almost a 7! Get over to the hospital and a couple hours later (with an epidural that did NOT work) she had a handsome 8lb 4oz little stud!

Sooo from our trials we realize our blessings

A couple of days before my birthday my phone that I've had for 2 years and was a very sad pathetic phone finally died on me. So for my birthday I got a phone I've been wanting for quite a while now. An iphone. 2 hours later this happened:

Yes, it was very very VERY sad but I'm sooo thankful we listened to the spirit and bought best buys black tie protection. We went to best buy and got a brand new one!

The picture below was trying to catch the image of the large amounts of Hives all over Lainey's head and face and Cate trying to Kiss her all better.

The same day my phone broke we woke up to flooding. 1-800 came out to fix it all up and found mold ALL over :( We live in a duplex, in the basement of a duplex, and no one lives to the one connected to us so it had been flooding and damaging our house with out us even knowing for a while.

We have to be out of our house for at least 3 weeks while they fix it up and get rid of all the nasty mold.

Thank heavens for an amazing family that took us right in! We are staying at my grandparents house in Toquerville and eat at my parents every night for dinner.

We are so blessed :)

Lainey is going to be crawling any day now! She's getting so big!!

I wish you could see Lainey's sad hives. They take over her whole face and she gets super super itchy. Its really sad. We took her to the doctor who sent us to an allergist who discovered that she is VERY allergic to Milk and probably a few other things but we aren't sure yet.

So, do I give up breastfeeding (which I am very attached to and love)? Or give up Dairy (its not just the basics, there is a HUGE list of things I can't eat!)?

I don't know!

Ok, I've GOTTA post some of the funny things Cate has been saying and doing lately!!

Me: Cate did you poo?

Cate: No mom I never ever ever ever ever poop!

And then she'll switch things up!

Cate always stands on the toilet next to me while I'm putting makeup on so, today I was getting ready and I looked down and Cate was putting mascara on her eyelashes! She actually did a good job and got almost all of her lashes and only a little on her nose! Haha She said: Look mom I'm pretty!!

We were helping her say prayer...

Me: Heavenly Father thank you

Cate: You're welcome Heavenly Father

Cate: Really Mom?

Cate will be getting into something or be doing something naughty and I'll look at her and say: Caaate!

She'll give me an evil eye, point her finger, grit her teeth and say: Mom you want go time out?!!

Its so hard to be mad at her!

Cate: Oh what happen baby?! My baby is sad, say sorry mommy right now!

We're driving on the freeway and Cate says: Woooow look! Tallest mountain!!

Cate is a little chatter box and does it very very well!! I love it! She is WAY too smart!

And Lainey, little miss Lainey is soooo Strong! She is getting around everywhere! She can't quite figure out how to use her arms and knees together but she drags her self around with her arms or pushes her self with her little frogy legs. She is also a very sweet happy baby. She LOVES attention and is always smiling. I can't believe she will be 6 months in just a few days!! We love her big brown (maybe green) eyes!

We had a very fun week! Monday and Tuesday we went to Las Vegas to see Gramma and Grampa Rex and Uncle Rex (Hahhah thats what Cate calls them) We went to Bradens graduation and lots of swimming. Cate loved hanging out at the pool with Gramma!!

Friday afternoon we headed up to my Uncles house in Highland for a few more days of fun!

Saturday we went swimming and to a drive in movie and we saw Cars 2, it was cute!

We brought Cates pack n play and she slept most of the time!!

This part was sooo fun!

Cate is slowly, very slowly adjusting to this new little person in our home! She loves her little sister and is so motherly to her but I can tell its pretty hard for her at the same time.

This baby is so sweet! She is calm, content and happy. Just like Cate she has a beautiful strong spirit. She loves her mama and loves to cuddle me. She is a great eater and has been since the second she tried! She looks a lot like Cate but at the same time looks a lot like Matt and thats funny because Cate looks like me.

I skipped posting any labor or delivery pictures....you would NOT want to see those!! They started my pitocin and broke my water at 7am so Labor was about 8.5 hours long. I was only in Labor with Cate for 5.5 hours so I was expecting less with this one! Oh well! I didn't pass out this time!! Yay! This is crazy but this Labor was such an awesome experience. I loved every minute of it! (Hmmm maybe not those last 10 minutes!!!) And I KNOW that its all because of the people I had with me! Matt was perfect. He rubbed my feet, rocked back and forth with me for hours, rubbed my back and was very gentle and sweet even when I got grouchy with him! My mom was there, she's a pro at this stuff, she's been thru it 9 times so she was VERY helpful! Especially when Matt or I weren't quite sure what to do-she knew. I'm glad Lauren was there too. She made sure the WHOLE time that things that were happening I wanted to happen and she made sure I was comfortable. I'm grateful she was there to do that! Oh she also snuck some video footage!! Hahah its not allowed at my hospital but she did it!! Breanne ended up coming too! She was awesome because she took lots of pics and some video too. I also had amazing nurses. One especially was just awesome! I am so thankful for her! I wouldn't have been able to do it the way I did with out her I don't think. She was very compassionate, calm, supportive and she knows her job very very well. I really couldn't have asked for anything better! The whole thing was perfect and beautiful and I got a perfect, beautiful little baby too!

So, Wed Feb 16th I went in for my normal weekly check up and blood pressure was up, I had a little protein in my urine and baby was still measuring 36 weeks (this normally probably wouldn't be scary but since Cate stopped growing at about 35-36wks and could have been really sick or died if she wasn't induced, I was nervous this little girl was in the same boat!) so Dr. Lunt decided it was best to get induced. I was really disappointed. I soooo wanted to experience going into Labor on my own! BUT I also wanted my baby to be safe. The induction was scheduled for the next day!!

Tomorrow I will be 34 weeks! I seriously CAN NOT believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by!

I remember being pregnant with Cate and going back and forth between feeling very overly ready to have her out of there and feeling not ready and scared and wishing she could stay inside a while longer!! But mostly I just wanted pregnancy to be over!!

Baby 2 is so different.

I'm loving every single minute of this pregnancy!

And this time its not because I'm scared and feel nervous (cause I can't wait to hold and squeeze and kiss this little girl!) Its because it feels so.....special &/or sacred (is that crazy?!). Those might not be the best words to describe my feelings but I don't think I could describe it in words.

Right now I'm really wishing time would just slow down a little

It might also have a little to do with her...

I think every pregnant mama with baby #2 feels the same way!!!

Our poor girl!!

Cate was admitted to the hospital after a week of having a nasty version of the flu and getting super dehydrated. Last Friday she acted funny and super tired ALL day. She's a crazy, hyper all over the place kinda girl but not that day! If she wasn't snuggled up in my arms she was lying on the floor. We went to the store and while she normallly pushes the cart with me, she laid in it! I knew she was very sick but I thought it was just from not eating and lack of energy from no food or sugar. I'm soooooo sooo grateful that my mom knew better and talked me into going to the ER. I'm so thankful for inspiration and the way things worked out so perfectly to get us there! Who knows what could have happened!!

And really quickly she was back to her normal self!!

After a few minutes of fluids going in to her body she changed! And the next afternoon was all better and ready to get up and play!

They gave her some "yummy" hospital food. She hadn't really kept anything down the whole week and she didn't even have the desire to eat but that day she did we were sooo happy about that (especially cause she kept it down and we could go home, we probably only slept a total of 2 hours that whole night!!)

Yay!!! We get to go home!

So..a few weeks ago anything I gave cate (celery, string cheese, pretzel, etc) she put in her mouth and sucked on! She sucked on the celery for about 4 hours!! Next thing I knew she had found a passie and was sucking on that! The next day she found her thumb! She sucks on it all the time!! My social girl is no longer social...she's too busy sucking that dang thumb (and holding her ear at the same time)!! I don't get it! She has never sucked her thumb and only used a passie for about the first 2 months of her life! All I can think is...weird! Hopefully she grows out of this stage quickly :)

We've only had an old screen door as our door and NOW we have a beautiful french door! With Matt gone all week and when he is home working graves I feel much safer with "real" doors.

Dentist!

Cate had her first dentist appt a few days ago. Her Doc reccomended going when she had 6 teeth and she has 6 teeth so in to the Dentist we went! She was soo brave and actually had lots of fun playing with their cool toys! Hopefully if I consistantly take her to the dentist every 6 months she'll get used to it and it wont be so hard when she starts needing work done!! Hahaha we'll see about that!

Cate is learning so many new things these days!

~She says around 30 words on a regular basis. She can say way more than that but only repeating words after we say them.

~Her favorite song is itsy bitsy spier, she LOVES doing the actions to them.

~She is trying to learn how to jump.

~ She walks, runs and walks backwards.

~She says "Thank you" after getting something she wants (some of the time :))

~I find her a couple times a day in her room with her books dumped out of a basket that I have the books in with her sitting in the basket while "reading" books to her self.

~She folds her arms for prayer and says amen at the end (or when she wants it to be the end!!)

~She says "all done" when she is bored with something.

~She loves copying her cousing Liby

~She brushes her 6 teeth (it is still VERY difficult for me to brush them first, but I try really hard!!)

Hmmm I know there are lots more, I just can seem to think of them right now!!

I forgot to mention that I'm pregnant!! I'm due March 1st. I'm 11 weeks 4 days to be exact!

Everything is great! This pregnancy is totally differant than with Cate. The only symptoms I experience are being super tired and major heart burn BUT I can kinda control both of them! (I'm also a little extra emotional but I think that just has to do with Matt starting the Police Academy and being gone up north ALL week! We only get him on the weekends :( and I HATE it!BUT I'm so glad Matt is doing this for our family! He's such a great guy.) I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and this little thing is perfect!

We are super excited, scared and grateful for this baby!

This whole post is Backwards!! So if you want to start at the bottom you can!

I guess I've waited long enough to post about Cates First Birthday. I've learned a couple of things since this special day BUT first heres a part of a journal entry I wrote the day before her "big day"

June 3 2010

"Tomorrow Cate is one. I'm sad, so sad. I dont' want her to grow out of my arms and hugs and kisses! I want my baby to be my baby forever! I know its something that just happens and its gotta happen and gonna happen, but, right now its hard."

Hahahha So dramatic! Looking back it WAS tough.

But... I've learned now that its awesome!! I've learned tht I LOVE her growing and learning more and more everyday! I've learned that I love seeing little teeth pop out of her gums. I love watching her silly walk. I love listening to her carry on conversations that no one can understand. I've learned that I love watching her search for and point out her belly button. I love the way she needs me even though she is ''growing up". I love that she can actually say about 20 words (maybe more) and she knows how to use them. I've learned that she ALWAYS will be my baby and she will ALWAYS fit in my arms and she better not EVER grow out of my hugs and kisses! I've learned that she will always love me, even when she's 1!!

Motivation

Soooo....I haven't lost any more weight. I go up and down 5lbs all the time. I don't have that drive that helped me lose the weight that I have lost, and I miss it!!! How do I get that back!?!? Every time I have lost weight my body and brain stop at this point, the weight I am at right now. With out that motivation that got me this far I give up too easily. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..any advice?!

Warm Springs

My mom planned a ward camp out at Warm Springs and we joined them and I'm SO glad! Even with Cate getting fried, Matt's hacking cough, the huge wind storm, a broken tent and no air mattress the first night We had so much fun! Warm Springs is beautiful! You should all go. Its owned by the church so they make it as cheap as they can ($2/person/day).

It was super hot during the day so Cate played in the water lots or hung out in her pack n play in the shade.

So, just a few minutes after the 2 pictures above were taken

this happened :( Ella was whining at the door so I ran to let her in and as I was coming back Cate fell off the couch. Poor girl. Here is a shot of Cates first bloody nose. (I had to quickly take my shirt off because as you can see its white and it was my sisters and so I did NOT want to get blood on it.)

Not only did she get a bloody nose she got a fat lip

AND then a few days later we went camping (post coming next) and you can see in the picture below that Cate got fried !! I brought lots of sunscreen but the first day we were there I totally spaced putting any on her. And then today she was playing in her bedroom with Liby and something fell on her and poked her eye. Can you see that little scratch underneath her eye? Its been a few hours now and its pretty swollen.

I for sure feel like the worse mom in the WORLD!

I think she forgives me though...look at that smile! She puts up with so much and deserves (and will be getting) lots of loves, hugs and kisses from mom, thats for sure!

So, I didn't win the challange but thats ok! I only lost 4lbs and ya know what? Thats ok too! I've lost a lot of weight and I think its going to take a little bit longer now. The best part of this weight loss stuff is that I feel more in control of my self and my body! Now I just have to stick with it, keep going and keep working hard everyday and every minute!

I can do it!

Matt and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary!!

We did lots of fun things, spent lots of money and had a really busy day (while my mom watched Cate..all day! Thank You!) and all I could think about was how happy I am! It feels so dang good to be livin this life with Matt!

A few weeks ago someone asked me if I felt I was living in a fairy tale (she was one of the many that helped me thru the end of my last blahdidah (its weird to say it...marriage) so she saw me at my worst!) because of how happy I am. It only took me a second to think and answer: HECK YEAH!

And of course its not perfect, not even close but I am pretty darn blessed to be married to Matt and live in this little real life fairy tale!

THANK YOU Matt for being the one I've needed for SO long!

Me, My Mom and Lauren went to Vegas for a fun little weekend vacation. We had soo much fun!! The first night we went to my Aunt Julies house and hung out then went to her Stake RS b-day part. Her and my Uncle performed as Emma and Joseph they did such a good job!! After that we went to one of our favorite places U Swirl mmmm I love frozen yogurt! Then we went back to their house and watched a movie that we all ended up falling asleep in!! The next morning we got up and went to a brunch buffet (soooo bad but soooo yummy!) Then we went shopping! All day! The babies were soo good and had a fun time in their little cars! Look how cute!

Back to our Vegas trip! We stayed a hotel and spent the next day swimming and laying out. This was soo nice and relaxing! Again, the babies were so good and LOVED it! Cate even liked going under the water!

Great Grampa Winder

Another trip to Vegas (Ok so with these 2 trips to Vegas I gained 5lbs!!! So sad! BUT I lost that 5lbs and I'm working hard at losing more! I'm in another biggest loser challange so I wont be posting weight loss till thats done...wish me luck!!)

Sleepover! I've been doing lots of these since Matts schedule changed to grave yard shift (yuck)! For those of you that didn't hear Matt got promoted!! He got a 3$/hour raise, benefits and PTO Yay!!

I won the weight loss challenge! It was soooo scary because it was sooooo close. Danielle was only less than a percent from coming in first! Whew!! Like I said...tough tough competition! Matt came in 3rd place! He lost 12lbs! Good job babe! Thanks for the Challenge Danielle!

A couple of you asked how I am trying to lose weight. I'm just eating less (counting calories) and exercising (every now and then its the hardest for me!!) oh and not eating past 7ish. I haven't wanted to do a "diet" because I want to do something that I will do forever. I eat what I want, just not as much! So far its working out!

Since last time I posted about weight loss, 3 weeks ago, I've lost 6 pounds. Its been a little bit easier since I've know I had to post my weight loss (thanks for listening and supporting me :)) BUT losing weight is still HaRd. There are so many dang good temptations out there!

Matt and I have been doing a weight loss challenge with some friends since the middle of November (horrible-right before all of the holidays!) and we weigh in tonight to see who wins!! I'm so nervous!! We have tough competition! I'm a little nervous, this is probably tmi but... its that time of the month.. and so I'm bloated and I've retained a little extra water :( I hope whatever shows up on the scale tonight is enough! If its not I feel good and I'm fitting into smaller clothes that's kinda better than the money I could win...right?!

I'll let you know the end results of the challenge later!

Ok, so I've tried and then given up and then tried and then quit, again and again! Losing weight. Its hard. I've been doing good for about 4 months now and its taking a long time...but it feels good! So good! I'm starting to feel not so motivated again and so I need a challenge! I'm going to post my progress (and sometimes not so much progress). Maybe this way I'll have a little extra push...I DON'T want to post weight gain! Sometimes I wont lose any and that's ok, as long as I'm being healthy!

So here is a little history...

This is right before I got married. Me-weighing my lowest weight since I was a Junior in High School. At this point I still had about 35lbs to lose

Then I got married. I gained it ALL back plus some... 25lbs

(This is one of the only kinda full body shots I have..and I know exactly why!)

Then I gained 31lbs while I was pregnant! So that's 61lbs more than when I got married and 91lbs to lose to be at my goal weight (I can't believe I'm saying this, so embarrassing!)!!!!!

A week after I had Cate I lost most of the pregnancy weight, 21lbs. I think most of that weight was in my feet!! I weighed 10lbs more than when I got pregnant (no pic).

And here I am now 8 months later (I've been losing for about 4 months) and I've lost 30lbs. Soooo, 5lbs till I get to my weight on my wedding day and 40 to my goal weight! I like to make short term goals, my next goal is to lose 25 by June. It seems really easy but my weight loss has slowed way way down and so I think this is pretty practical for me.

I have lots of family and friends trying to lose weight right along with me. I know we can do it guys! Lets be strong!! I HAVE to do this (especially now!!! Haha)

Hahhaha! My very awesome & fun Gramma Hawke started a new tradition. She and her husband are here for a few months of the year from Canada and every January she is going to have a huge family birthday party. Since there are so many of us, its much easier to do it all at once then trying to remember all year long! As you can see this year we played lots of fun/crazy games! Games like~ blowing marshmellows out of our noses and seeing who shot it the furthest (yeah...I won't be posting any of those pictures!!), throwing and aiming choclotate syrup covered marshmellows into our partners mouth & collecting as many spoons on our heads as we could. We also had cake and a yummy dinner and opened presents from her! Thanks Gramma! We had a blast!

Cate had her 6 month check up today! Totally healthy! She is 26in and weighs 13.2! I can't believe how fast they grow (even though she is still tiny)!! Cate is sitting up by herself (she actually started at the end of her 4th month), she likes to play patty cake, she LOVES hearing her voice, she waves bye bye, she likes to eat baby food especially butternut squash, she's laughing up a storm lately, she likes to sing along when mommy sings, she knows a couple baby signs I could probably go on and on and on! We love this little girl so much! She makes us sooo happy!

So, we are moving into a new place!!! Yay!!! It has been really fun picking out paint colors, carpet colors, floors, tile, countertops and everything else that goes along with remodeling a home. Matt, my Dad and Brother have done most of the work but my mom and I thought it would be best for us to take on this job! It was pretty dang time hard!

Step 1: paint top half pink (The last thing we have to do is put the chair rail halfway up the wall where the pink and white meet.). The next step I don't have a picture of but we (me, Mom and Kamrynn) had to mark every 3 inches across and 6 inches down and then make sure the lines were level for that whole wall!!! Then we taped out everyother diamond, painted the edges with the light pink so that the dark pink wouldn't run, then we painted the diamonds dark pink let it dry and then started over taping every other diamond that wasn't done. I'm really glad we did it!!

One of our favorite things about summer time is going to the lake!

Right behind the bush in the picture below is a rock...Monday while we were at the lake we started hearing a girl screaming at the top of her lungs "help!!" the rock is about the place she nearly drown. For about 30 seconds we couldn't decide if they were kids playing or if someone was really in the need of help. My mom decided to call 911. There was a guy in a kayak (spelling?), not in the same party but near the girl passed out in the water (her friend was the one screaming help), he got to her so quickly. As soon as he got to her he yelled "call 911" then we saw him start doing chest compressions, we knew it was serious. Matt and Jordan took off running as fast as they could to help. Matt got there and helped give breaths while Jordan helped pull the kayak and girl out of the water. I guess after about a minute of cpr she started breathing it took her about 10 mins before she barely responded. It was sooo scary waiting and waiting for the emergency vechicles, luckily though, the man in the kayak doing cpr was a RN! What a miracle! We also Witnessed the beautiful power of the priesthood and the rewards of the faith of a youth. After the paramedics took her, her friend was so distraught that

She couldn't gain her composure. So Breanne (my sister) suggested a priesthood blessing. The girl came over and our family surrounded her for privacy. Matt gave her a beautiful blessing of peace and a knowledge that she had done the right things to save her friend and that her friend would heal. I could feel the Spirit so strong and I could feel peace come over this girl who had never had a blessing or even knew about blessings before. It was amazing!!! I am grateful for the heroic boys that got their kayaks to the girl. I am grateful for the fast response of Matt and Jordan. I am grateful for Breanne's knowledge that the one thing to help the most was our Heavenly Father. And.. I am grateful to my Heavenly Father. (The underlined words are words of my mom..I copied them! But I feel exactly the same way and I don't think I would have been able to express my feelings like I would want to, she said it perfectly!)

So, Breanne comforted and befriended the friend of the girl that almost drown. Breanne got an update that the girl was released from the hospital! Yay!!

Besides all fo that scary stuff we had sooo much fun at the lake Monday. Tanning, swimming, playing, talking, roasting hot dogs and eating smores! Sooo Fun!

The sweetest gift........... this is a gift given to Matt and I for Cate. We were talking about wishing we had a swing for her and my 7 year old sister said "oh, I have an idea". She came out with her teeny tiny (Its hard to tell how small the swing is because Cate is so teeny!) baby doll swing. I thought she was kidding.. but as we were walking out of the door she said "wait, I'll get this for you so that Cate will have it tonight". She carefully unbuckled every thing, folded it up and marched out the door to the car, putting it in the trunk. She had the sweetest amount of confidence that she had just solved all of our problems and didn't hestitate at the thought of giving away her prized baby doll possesion. Ya gotta love a kind hearted kid!
